The infrastructure builders working in the Laakso Hospital area and the Laakso riding arena are getting ready to start a new important phase of the project around mid-May: the excavation of the road tunnel that will run under the riding arena.

This means that there will be two kinds of excavation works in progress simultaneously:

  • Open-face blasting continues in the Laakso Hospital area, where the crew is excavating for the foundations of the main building.
  • The crew in the Laakso riding arena is performing open-face blasting to prepare for the excavation of the road tunnel. The tunnel excavation works proper are about to begin along the western edge of the riding arena. The tunneling crew will start by excavating a route to the new underground car park beneath the main building.

Any future changes to the blasting schedule will only be posted on the Working Hours page, where you will always find the latest information on detonation windows.

The blasting schedule is likely to change several times as the works progress.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
