Working hours

On this page, you can find information about the working hours of the construction sites of the Laakso Joint Hospital project.

Working hours at the opencast mining and other constructions sites in the Laakso Hospital area, Aurora Hospital area, and Laakso riding arena:

  • particularly noisy work such as quarry loading from Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • some works need to be carried out outside of these hours, however, and these works, too, generate some noise
  • see blasting times below.

At the rock tunnel site blasting does not carry as much noise or dust to the surrounding area, so working hours are longer. Working hours:

  • particularly noisy work from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • other than noisy work is done from Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • quiet work also in night shifts from Monday to Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • see blasting times below.

Deviating times are announced in advance.

Blasting schedule

We blast at the opencast mining sites from Monday to Friday and at the rock tunnel site from Monday to Saturday. Blasting times are the same at both sites:

  • 7:00 a.m. to 7:10 a.m. (beginning from Monday March 25th at the opencast mining and other constructions sites in the Laakso Hospital area, Aurora Hospital area, and Laakso riding arena, and at the rock tunnel site)
  • 7:15 a.m. to 7:25 a.m. (only at the Meilahti-Laakso tunnel site from Monday to Friday)
  • 8:55 a.m. to 9:05 a.m.
  • 10:55 a.m. to 11:05 a.m.
  • 1:25 p.m. to 1:35 p.m.
  • 3:55 p.m. to 4:05 p.m.
  • 4:55 p.m. to 5:05 p.m.
  • 5:50 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • 8:40 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (only at the rock tunnel site from Monday to Friday).

Several charges can be detonated at slightly different times during each 10-minute window. Not all the windows always need to be used, however, and there will be no blasting at other times. At the opencast mining sites an intermittent siren will sound before each blast, and a continuous siren tone will signal that the blasting operation has been completed.
